About Iberia and Reasons for flight Delay or Cancellation
Iberia is the largest Spanish airline with more than 100 destinations worldwide. It is considered as one of the cheapest airlines, but with very poor service. In 2007, Stiftung Warentest tested low-cost airlines, among other things, on service quality and customer satisfaction. Iberia obtained a "sufficient" rating. This rating is certainly not due to service delivery alone but also due to the numerous flight delays and cancellations being experienced by passengers. Reasons often include illness of one or more number of crew members, technical defects, Bird strikes and thunderstorms.
Your Rights as an
In addition to "smaller" claims like food, drinks and phone calls, you are entitled to compensation if your flight is cancelled without prior notification from the corresponding airline at least 14 days before scheduled departure date. You are also entitled to claims if your flight has been delayed for at least 3 hours. Amount payable as compensation is solely dependent on the flight distance and not on the ticket price. However, it must be noted that airlines are not held responsible for delayed or canceled flights resulting from exceptional circumstances such as Bird strikes and storms.
